ODE XXI
It is no sleep, my love, it is more and higher,
´tis a setting of sleep like a sun going down,
a wild desire,
suddenly found
beyond the human tragic unforeseen.
A sleep of shadows, of sound, a sleep of rain
in this room of mine
where silence remains
hidden in every object night and day
as a glove retains the feel of the hand.
O take me away
to that dead land
where cloud-sheep and the stars of heaven
alone point out the way
to tattered sails
steered by the night to their last haven.
ODE XXXI
In January rains the moonlight fades,
calm is the sea and all that comes from memory´s
remotest confines
on the wind´s voice.
On the wall the lamp makes abstractions of shade
and of thought.
In my room,
my day closes in solitude.
